10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
No one questions that the elements of the weather are beyond our control. When and how much it rains and snows, even heavy winds and high temperatures control how we live. Everyone accepts that, no questions asked. But it isn't just the weather that we have no control over- it's the Creator and Sustainer Himself. God is invincible; He does what He wants and it's always for Israel's best interest. The more of God's Word we receive, the more it accomplishes in and thru us. The more we will trust Him, the more we will prosper.
What would we do without "the rain...and the snow" for they "watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater"? We have no real problem understanding how essential the water is which "cometh down...from heaven." Think about it: every drop of rain and every flake of snow accomplishes exactly what our Invincible God wants it to, watering the earth and making things grow so we can live. It is the same way with His Word; He does anything He wants. We should be inspired to trust God like never before, knowing His Word cannot fail.
The rain and the snow come down from the atmosphere surrounding the earth, known as the first "heaven." Whereas, God says His Word, "goeth forth OUT OF MY MOUTH." Therefore thru the rain and snow, we see so much more power that the Word has, which comes directly from the Divine Source of Creative Efficacy- described as the very mouth of God!
7 And the LORD God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
Christ (quoting Deutoronomy 8:3) proclaimed, "Man shall not live BY BREAD ALONE, but by every word that proceedeth out of THE MOUTH OF GOD." We work our fingers to the bone for bread- the physical needs we have, but what about the things of the Spirit? Consider the sheer ignorance of most of our people concerning the Word of God, and you quickly realize how our race is only concerned with "bread alone." Yet as Isaiah already stated back in verse 3, "your soul shall live" not by bread alone which does not satisfy, but by the Word of God.
The Word economy and it's benefits came from the mouth of God. People purchase stocks based on tips from the mouths of financial advisors every day, yet it's still a 'crap shoot.' The investment of our trust in the Word economy is no gamble however, because God is the One advising you that "...my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." How can you ask for a greater guarantee on a "return" than that?!
Don't limit the power of God in your life by minimizing the power of His Word in your thinking! Take hold of God by trusting in His Word with full confidence that He is able. Though men think they can twist His Word into whatever they want it to mean, God has the power to accomplish everything He wants to out of it. The Apostle Paul puts it like this:
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will: 16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: 17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel. 18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
So just like the rain and snow accomplish what God wants, so too His Word! Though the majority of what's being taught today is the spiritual equivalent to 'acid rain' and 'yellow snow,' still the intent of God's Word accomplishes His purposes. The idea though is to partake of the pure Word of God that has not been contaminated by men.
We show our appreciation by not neglecting His Word, caring only that it accomplishes everything God has intended. Are you doing anything and everything you can to further God's Word to those around you? Though God wants us engaged in the Word economy, His Word will still "accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." God wants our cooperation and will bless us abundantly for it, yet He does not need it.
The bottom line is God wants His Word to prosper, so it will. The question is, do you want it to prosper in and thru your life? You do if you have a hunger and thirst for it accomplishing God's purposes. We build ponds and dams to contain the water for certain uses. What about filling our hearts and minds with His Word to be useful each day? The Word economy cannot fail because nothing can stop God's Word from being perfectly successful.
We embrace the Word economy by making sure our hearts are good ground to receive His Word. How do we do that? By forsaking our wicked ways and unrighteous thoughts, just as Isaiah already stated in verse 7. We make room for God's Word by giving Him top priority and our undivided attention.
Just like no one can stop the rain and snow, neither can anyone prevent His Word from accomplishing whatever He pleases. If we're smart, we will stop living based on the world economy, which will not last. If we really want to be successful and satisfied, even in this life, we will seek to align our desires with God's Word.
12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
If you want to 'live happily ever after,' invest your all in the Word economy. If you want the obstacles to your success removed, this change must be implemented in your life. Those things which seem immovable will align in your favor by simply following your spiritual hunger and thirst, out of the world economy, into God's richest blessings.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
The "thorn" and "brier" remind us of the curse resulting from the Fall which in some way 'sticks us' each day we exist in the world economy. Why do we as Adamites keep making the same mistake over and over which our ancestors made by not trusting God's Word?! The serpent wanted to break their trust in God's Word in the Garden:
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
The goal of the serpent's seduction was for Eve to stop trusting God's Word. Once she questioned it, and began to consider the carnal fleshly aspect of her situation, her trust in God's Word was broken. We are still making the same mistake on varying scales in our lives today. When will we learn not to follow someone who doesn't trust God?!
If we'll trust God, He has the power to change the kind of harvest we're going to receive: "Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off." When you finally grow tired of the thorns and briers of this old world, the only alternative is to trust God. Make the necessary adjustments and embrace the Word economy! Transformation awaits you, from the inside out, if you will just listen to God and hold on.
The thorns and briers of this world distract us from seeing the need to produce what draws all attention to the Name of Christ, so that other Israelites will be united to His cause. Let's read Isaiah chapter 55 as a whole:
1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. 2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. 4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people. 5 Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee. 6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
What loyalty and trust you have in your heart for God is worth far more than what you have in the bank or in a portfolio. Desire only God's best for yourself and your people, that which brings deepest satisfaction. When it comes to any Israelite, it's about constructing the kingdom of God. For God shares His glory with those who understand and practice the Word economy.
The only distance between us and God is what we allow in our own minds. God is ready for us to trust Him thru having His thoughts and ways. Since our beginning was in heaven, we have the capacity to learn to live for Him. It is Israel's opportunity alone to live this higher life.
Trusting God brings joy and peace into our daily lives: joy, because what's before us is far greater, and peace, because we have nothing to worry about. God preserves His Word in His people and His people thru His Word. Living in accordance with the Word economy produces a better outlook on life. The greatest testimony we can attain is being willing to trust God with your all, no matter what. Nothing makes quite the impact as the life of one who is sold out to God.
There is another way, another life for us to follow. Indeed it is less familiar and less popular. Yet it is far more interesting and more satisfying. This is the Word economy. Always remember nothing is impossible for God. Allow His invincibility to inspire you.
